New preschool ministry starts this Sunday!
(And the story of how we are creating discipleship pathways for our children)
Hi everyone
It was really exciting to celebrate the baptism of one of “our” kids last weekend. One of our reflections from that day was just how Gabby had been shaped in faith over a long period of time in different church contexts before arriving at the decision to be baptised. It’s highlighted for us the need to create a pathway for all our kids from birth through to decisions like this and beyond into adult discipleship that really plant faith, nurture faith, and create opportunities to express that faith in mission and ministry.
So the launch of a new pre school ministry this Sunday is a big deal. This is not a crèche just to keep small children occupied, this is a ministry where small people will take their first small steps in faith for themselves surrounded by loving church community. If you have small people in your life - kids or grandkids! - bring them along 😃
The goal is to create a pathway that looks something like this…..
Pre school ministry (0-4)
Godly play (5-10s)
KWAC on Sunday / intermediate youth group on Fridays
Revelation Youth (13-18) on Thursdays
Small group networks through the church for adults
Every step on this pathway of faith though needs family and community to wrap around these kids….. “our” kids….on their journey. We haven’t yet found our new youth minister, so if you might be interested or know some people who might be, please share this job description with them or invite them to talk to one of our church leaders.

We also need volunteers too, people who have a heart for each of these ages and stages. So whether you would love to love the little kids, help share the big story of God through Godly play, help out amongst the teens either on Sundays or midweek…….we would also love to hear from you!
For now, let’s celebrate a new chapter and a new commitment as a church to raising our kids in faith starting this Sunday. We were definitely reminded at Gabby’s baptism of where this journey can lead.

Gabby Hogan, a member of our mission family based in Fiji got baptised today. It was a great opportunity to celebrate the family’s work in mission, Gabby’s growth in faith in that context plus New Wine and through the parish connection, and be reminded of our own baptism and calling to mission in the world around us.
We may try and sneak one more baptism Sunday in before it gets too cold for river baptisms. At the moment we have two of our youth on that journey, a mum and a 2 year old, plus a father and his two teens. If you might be keen to be baptised, or to renew baptismal vows made on your behalf as a child do get in touch with one of our parish leaders and start a conversation.
It could lead to a beautiful occasion filled with faith, hope and love like this one today ❤️🌿
Ps - check out the cross carved into the tree at our baptism spot! We didn’t notice it last year, but perhaps we aren’t the first to be having baptisms in this place. Hopefully building on a rich tradition for many years to come!
