Since its inception, over 14 million people worldwide have been on an Alpha course. Why has it been so popular? The NZ Herald says this: “The message is chatty and non-threatening. It is peppered with personal anecdote and references which appeal to the well-read and to popular culture." Another reason I heard about the course’s appeal is that it gives permission to discuss the big questions – life and death, and their meaning. It’s an opportunity to ask any question, no matter how inquiring, hostile or odd! It takes place over a meal with a talk and discussion afterwards. It’s not a perfect package but does offer an opportunity for those asking the big questions of life. What I love about doing the Alpha course is that it forces me to keep questioning and evaluating what I believe, and reminds me that faith in Jesus is life-changing and credible. Do you know anyone who might be interested in doing the course; who is asking some of those big questions? The Alpha Course is held once a week for ten weeks. If you invite a friend, maybe you could think about coming for the first couple of weeks. Please take a couple of invites, and start asking God if there’s anyone who would be good to ask. To find out when we are running the next Alpha Course please contact Sandra in the office, or feel free to chat to me if you have any questions!
