If you have not been to any of the Waikanae Anglican Parish services you may be asking:
-
Will this church meet my needs?
-
What should I expect when I visit?
-
What sort of people attend?
|
|
is waikanae anglican the church for me? |
|
First thing to do is relax! We want you to know we are here to help. If you’ve never set foot in a church before or are a regular church attendee we want you to know that you will be greeted with a warm smile. It is hard to say exactly what you will experience because we have a variety of worship communities from a: quiet contemplative service; or a traditional Anglican liturgical service; or a contemporary family oriented service providing fantastic children and youth programmes; to a loud and vibrant service for the “young at heart”. So it really does depend on which context we meet you. But one thing you can be sure about – you are most welcome and we will go out of our way to make sure of that!
In fact, the unique feature about Waikanae Anglican Parish is that it contains a variety of worship styles. The variation is quite remarkable that sometimes we wonder whether we are all part of the same local church! So not only will you be welcomed warmly, but as a church with an eclectic mix of styles you can choose a worship style that suits you. Having said that, we encourage people not to treat church with a consumer mentality – to pick and mix like you would in a supermarket. Once you‘ve found where you fit we encourage you to be an active participant of that worship community and connect with those in that community.
Another feature of Waikanae Anglican Parish is that services are provided at different times on a Sunday and through-out the week. Should a Sunday morning simply be unworkable for you or your family you are able to attend a mid-week service.
And finally who are the sort of people that attend? Again, this largely depends on which service you attend. You will notice a large eclectic mix of age, young and old, and background, both well off and those struggling to make ends meet. There are the outwardly successful such as Chief Executive, Financial, or Information Officers and those who are struggling with life’s issues and addictions. Regardless of where you fit, who you relate to, or what you have done, the Waikanae Anglican Parish is simply a collection of faith communities which contain people just like you and me. These people have found a life worth living with meaning and purpose. They have found the power to change through their own encounter with Jesus Christ and are now walking a journey of faith as active participants of a worship community.
So I guess the question really is, will you come along and experience one of our worship communities for yourself? Our challenge is “don’t be virtual….be real…connect!” |
