role of the churchwardens in a parish
Churchwardens share with the Vicar the leadership of the parish.

They are used primarily in probem solving in the parish but they have a special responsibility for communicating Vestry decisions to the parish. The People’s Warden is elected and respresents the view of ‘the people’. The Vicar’s Warden is appointed by the Vicar to represent the views of the Vicar and their family brinng relevant concerns to the Vestry’s attention. The Wardens are also the official signatories for the parish when contracts are signed and oversee the parish welfare during an interregnum. They are also responsible for ensuring that the decisions of Vestry are carried out and for having a concern for the physical wellbeing of the Vicar and staff.
