At Waikanae Anglican Parish our mission statement is simple - to be as Jesus Christ in our communities. |
|
At Waikanae Anglican Parish we value:
- The work of the Holy Spirit as he challenges and encourages us to show forth the fruit of the spirit
- The work of outreach to a world that is lost and seeking
- The rich variety of worship styles in our midst. Traditional and contemporary worship styles are equally important to us.
- The orthodox view of the Bible and the Nicene and Apostles Creeds.
- The needs and rights of all ages in the church.
- The place of children and youth among us, not as the church of tomorrow, but as part of the church today.
- The work of smaller gatherings.
- The participation of all members in the ministry of the church as it becomes permission-giving and individual gifts are encouraged and released.
- The development of ecumenical links as we work together with the whole body of Christ for the transformation of our communities.
- Excellence in all we do as a church.

In the fourth century, 318 leaders of the church gathered at Nicaea in Africa and wrote the following statement of faith of the church. Of the 318 delegates only 12 had not lost an eye, a hand or did not limp from being tortured for their faith. This is the faith that the early church was prepared to die for which we believe is the truth.
Â
We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one being with the Father; through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven, was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary and became fully human. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who in unity with the Father and the Son is worshipped and glorified, and has spoken through the prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.
